San Juan Islands Insider App

PROJECT WA

In 2016, Lopez Island Middle School students literally made history in their Northwest History class. Using 468 Field Trip, the students created their Washington State Insider app to reward people for seeking out unique, historic places around Washington State. Led by history teacher Anthony Rovente, the students selected heritage-based locations, conducted historical research about each site, and wrote content for each to be included in their app. Users of the app can earn discounted entry to the Washington State History Museum. ST. JOHN SCHOOL

Beyond a resource to more deeply engage students in curriculum, St. John is using their Field Trip app as a platform for engaging their community, auctioning off local business placement in the app. READ MORE >
